Attached is a copy of the Global Education Checklist, a comprehensive evaluation tool for measuring global education implementation at the student, teacher, school, district, and state education system levels. I plan to use this checklist as part of our school evaluation plan and to track data over time. During the TGC online course, I completed this checklist with Dr. Deedee Falls, Bioscience principal. We decided that in order to accurately measure, we should sample teachers, parents, community members, and District administrators and compare their results to the answers students provide. Used as a longitudinal study, we should be able to identify strengths and weaknesses as well as see the impact of changes in the school and curriculum.

http://asiasociety.org/globalcompetence Another helpful resource for assessing global competence at the student level is provided by the Asia Society. The links to the right of this page provide rationale, rubrics, I can statements, and performance outcomes for measuring global competence in a variety of school subjects in 5th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grades. I plan to use the wording from these resources in developing rubrics for summative assessments throughout the four year program.
http://assessment.aas.duke.edu/documents/GlobalAwarenessRubric.pdf This Duke University rubric is much shorter and emphasizes understanding of the role of technology, communication, economics, culture, politics, and connectedness in global awareness. As you can see, there are a variety of definitions, skills, and competencies highlighted by various organizations and working together with your staff is an important first step in clearly defining and prioritizing global education goals for your school.
http://www.azed.gov/educational-technology/2011/10/19/free-educational-technology-literacy-assessment-online-tools/ One main focus of the Bioscience Experience is technological literacy. We are a 1:1 laptop school and skills, ethics, and critical thinking about resources is embedded into every class. Linked here is the Arizona Department of Education technological literacy assessment online tools page. The State is working to pilot these assessments and has opened use for state schools. I plan to pilot a few of these tools to find the one that best measures the impact of our 1:1 laptop program.
