How to use this Global Resource Guide:
What is Global Education?
Global Education is not a subject or a course; it is a ribbon that weaves through all courses and ties together all subjects in order to bring meaning and application to school curriculum. Global Education helps students make sense of themselves and their world and provides opportunity for students to engage responsibly and contribute meaningfully to their local, national, and global communities. Global Education empowers students by helping them find their passion and purpose and to connect with others who share the same drive. Global Education is pedagogy: student centered, project and problem-based experiences, collaboration and inquiry, and discussion-rich. It is authentic, considers multiple perspectives, rigorous, and personalized. Global Education is content: communication, culture, connections, the study of human interactions within society and with the environment, an investigation of equality and sustainability. It asks students to identify the root causes and unintended consequences of local and world challenges and to consider the wants, needs, and values of all stakeholders using skills learned in every school course. Global Education is innovation, systems thinking, and relationship building. It stimulates curiosity, creativity, and compassion. Global Education asks students to become change agents in their world; global education IS 21st Century learning.

The Global Resources Guide tab includes a drop down menu with links to unit plans, project-based and global education resources, a digital inventory for Bioscience High School, and a summary of tools for assessing global learning in schools. Clicking on Morocco Blog will take you to a series of posts from my trip and the drop down link provides the essential questions that guided my travels and work afterwards. Lastly, the Discussions link provides a place to add comments about educational policy and leadership, global education, and more. I encourage you to start and/or continue these discussions and to spread the word about this page. I'm hoping that we can begin a community of professional learners dedicated to improving education for all! Thank you!
