Some global education web-based resources for starters:

A compilation of electronic resources related to global competency, problem-based and project-based learning, and more. Sorry it is not as organized as I would like, I figured out how I would have wanted it after I hit Pin It a ton of times!

http://www.freedomhouse.org
This organization provides maps and data over time about the level of freedom in each country in the world. This data can provide a great resource for Calculus. I'm convinced that mapping the freedom and populations of each country and discussing events in their history lends itself to correlation vs. causation discussions and the idea of critical points on change graphs. All while building global competency.

http://millennium-project.org/millennium/challeng.html These challenges provide opportunities for students to view issues that affect the entire world. When students aren't sure of a challenge they can work on, I point them to these resources first. Also, we have many class discussions about how these issues present at individual, local, national, and global levels. |

The Humphrey Program brings young and mid-career professionals from designated countries to the United States for a year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts. If they are hosted at a University near you, they are probably looking for an opportunity to partner with local schools. These fellows bring a wide range of skills and perspective and are excited to experience the American educational system.

Post unique project ideas, find projects looking for teachers and students to participate and make connections across the globe. Great for all teachers starting to build global competency into their curriculum.

A great tool in combination with requiring international sources on papers, projects, discussions, etc. Many students see the world through one lens so doing comparisons of media coverage of the same event in different areas of the world is eye opening.

1. Skype www.skype.com Our school has an exception for Google accounts and official Facebook and Twitter accounts can be approved by administrationl however, Skype is not board approved. Nobody has complained about Google Hangout usage and many students use Skype on their phones.
